| Everyone has had the investigator that says they believe everything youre telling them but something just hasnt sunk in. We had that person for quite some time in one area of Salem IL. The guy had been visiting with the missionaries for months on end. He just kind of listened with no real commitment to anything. When he prayed about Joseph Smith he didnt say he had a concrete answer right then and there. So we went ahead and taught the Restoration lesson. We did the whole cup thing and it explained it to him very plainly but nothing was clicking. Just then something dawned on him and I think he understood more of what we were saying at that time than any other. "Youre telling me that the old church fell away and that the church was brought back, and if that is the case then I need to be baptized into that church (Long Pause)...I feel weird man."
Suddenly all those hours of telling us to teach by the Spirit had really taken hold. My perspective of teaching had changed alot after that experience. |
