Wow, only my trainer (Danny Brock) was available for selection! Where are you guys -- Elders Ross Whittaker, Brian Talbot, Don Hunt, Dan Neville and Mark Allen ??? Also non-companions that I worked with: Elders Ford, Heilpern, Royer, Yeates, Casteel, Reddekopp, (If you see this profile, please get in touch using my email !!) And since the mission was changed into the NYC North and South Missions, how do I find info on alumni and reunions??
----------------------------
Four wonderful children came from my 1st marriage, two of which are married and have given me 3 grandchildren. My (2nd) wife and I have three little ones (5, 4 and 3) and trying for a fourth. So, my grandkids have 2 aunts and an uncle roughly the same age!!
I lived in my home state of Calif. until 1997, when I moved to Virginia. I worked in the fields of quality assurance, R&D and technical writing, which is my current career (I work in Washington DC) and has been for 15+ years.
My mom and dad both passed away without joining the Church, but I have been getting their Temple work done, and soon will have them sealed.
I have served in the Primary a total of 11 years in different areas, stake missionary twice, and now am Elders' Quorum instructor (second time). I haven't gone too "high" on the "calling ladder", but I feel that my responsibilities and experiences with fatherhood have been some of the best parts of my life, and I cherish each and every one of my children :-)
Life has had its ups and downs (as expected), but overall I feel I am blessed tremendously. I recently had a brush with death that only served to strengthen my testimony, in many ways. I know with all my heart our Father in Heaven lives, and declare with all my heart and soul, that His Son Jesus is in truth the Christ, and the Savior of the world!!
Love and best wishes to all,
Elder David Gates
