On Jan. 18 my wife and I got back from a 18 month mission to England (Jan 2007). It was very interesting to say the least. We had to get used to the rain there. I don't know if you have heard but about 3 or 4 months ago Eulene Barrett Adams died. She and my wife had known each other since they were young and were best friends. I appreciate all that you do to make it possible for the rest of us to keep up on the news about our Mission. Thanks Delray R Blau
Hi Wayne, I hope I do this right so you receive the pictures.
When I was in Kichijoji we would sometimes go to the used bookstore and by any copies off the Book of Mormon that they might have gotten. I found one that was different and looked like it was an old copy so I bought it. What I thought was interesting was that it had the signature ( Elder Paul C. Andrus) in it. In the one picture you can see the signature. When my wife and I were at the MTC before going to Japan I had this Book of Mormon with me, thinking I would take it with me to Japan. However at the MTC we got permission to go to the Japanese branch with the young missionaries and a counselor in the Branch was Japanese. He got quite excited about the book and read some of it so the missionaries could hear the different words that they had used. He told me it was a first edition copy of the Book of Mormon Printed in 1909. And it was the translation of Alma O. Taylor. I think it was a copy that Pres. Andrus given to somebody. After finding this out I didn't take it to Japan but sent it home. I have it wrapped in acid free paper in a box. Vaun Andrus, the President's son took it to the new Apostle, Stevenson and now it has been placed in the cornerstone vault in the new Sapporo Temple dedicated in Sep 2016. Delray Blau |
