Comments:
I was called to Southern Far East, was one of the 10 Elders that came to Japan. I came to Japan in July of '67 and went to Kobe when the Mission was split. I served in Tokyo Kita Shibu, Futema Shibu, Tokyo Chuo Shibu,Fukushima Shibu and The Mission Home. I was immediately drafted into the Army upon coming home. Since then I have managed several business's before starting our own in 1984. Just recently sold our business and am doing a little land developing construction in Idaho. I have four children and 5 grandchildren. I try to go hunting and fishing as much as possible. I've been back to Nihon twice and still keep in contact with some friends there. 1/1/2013: Dear NFEM Friends, Gayle and I leave in to serve a mission in Tokyo. We are thrilled for this opportunity and ask that each of you pray that we might be successful. I hope that we can help the Japanese people enjoy blessings in their lives.
The theme we’ve decided on for our mission is, “An Adventure Every Day.” Love,
Dick and Gayle Powell of Idaho Falls

"Obedience is the price, faith is the power, love is the motive, the Spirit is the key, and Christ is the reason." The motto of the Japan Fukuoka Mission can be applied not only to missionary work, but to everyday life. -BYU President Bateman
