Comments:
Going back to Naha for a trip in June 2006. Served a Japanese speaking mission in the SLC Valley and an 18 month mission to San Diego working with Japanese.

August 1956, Elder Alvin Jack and I were sent to Naha Okinawa to open the branch and commence missionary work there. I had the opportunity to return June 12, 2006 for 4 wonderful days to witness the tremendous growth that has taken place there. Where there were no members then, there are now 10 operating Wards and five beautiful chapels and a Stake. I started at Futenma Okinawa earlier in the year and now the Ginowan Stake is operating there. Many of the original saints that I taught and baptized formed the nucleous of the growth. Bro. Takeshi Miyara, whose mother joined the Church when he was just a youngster, later served as a full time Missionary, later to be Branch President, Bishop twice, and in the Stake Presidency, now serving on the Naha Stake High Council. His four sons have all served honorable missions. I could go on and on but suffice it to say it is a testimony to me that the Lord's work is devine and will continue to move forward in the Far East.
I aslo served in Osaka, Komatsu, Nagoya and Takasaki before going down to Okinawa. How great it is to be a member of the Lord's Kingdom here on earth!

"Obedience is the price, faith is the power, love is the motive, the Spirit is the key, and Christ is the reason." The motto of the Japan Fukuoka Mission can be applied not only to missionary work, but to everyday life. -BYU President Bateman
