Elder Gregory Child, 1961-2011 25 Mar 2011
Dear Fellow Missionaries & Friends,

It is with sadness that I learned my last missionary companion, Elder Gregory Child, passed away on March 18, 2011. I had not heard from him in almost 25 years when we served together in Vineland, New Jersey. My wife and I are attending his viewing and funeral in Salt Lake City today. Elder Child's life story, funeral announcement, and online guestbook website is below. With love and prayers,
Elder Neil Skousen, Orem, Utah.

Gregory Child 9/4/1961 ~ 3/18/2011 Our brother Gregory Duncan Child, son of Wallace and Freida Duncan Child, was born September 4, 1961 in Bountiful, Utah. He passed away March 18, 2011 in Salt Lake City. He spent his youth in Farmington and then in Genola, Utah where he was an honor student and graduated from Payson High School. He graduated from Southern Utah State College at Cedar City, where he was active in music and drama productions. Greg showed special gifts in music at a young age and went on to develop his talents in playing the piano, organ and composing music. Active in the LDS church, Greg served as a missionary in the Pennsylvania Spanish Speaking Mission from 1985 to 1987. He was a member of the thirteenth Ward and served as Ward Clerk the past four years. He also was Ward Organist and shared his music talents at Brighton Gardens. Greg was a sweet humble man with a sense of humor and positive attitude who will be missed by his brothers Allen, Bill and David Child and his sisters Patricia Child and Linda Petty. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard. Funeral services will be held Friday 25 March 2011 at the Thirteenth Ward in the Salt Lake Central Stake located at 630 E. 100 S, SLC at 12:00 noon. Friends and family may pay their respects at the viewing starting at 10:45 a.m. at the Ward. Burial will occur at the Farmington Cemetery following the services. LDS QUOTE:
"You are a great army of returned missionaries. Go forward with new zeal and determination, and through your example shine the light of the gospel in this troubled world. This is the Lord’s work in which we are engaged. God lives. Jesus is the Christ. We belong to His Church. This is my witness to you in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
- Elder L. Tom Perry
Ensign, Nov. 2001
