| I remember we were walking in the Victor Larco area of Trujillo, January 1998, Elder Turley and I. We passed a small house with a HUGE book case, we thought it was a small library...
We poked our heads in and saw a middle aged man sitting at a drafting table. We started to ask questions and the man acted very strange towards us. He was a very intelligent man and was VERY trained in mathmatics, geography and so forth. We came to find out he was baptized in the early 1970's, probably among the first in the area.
We began to teach him and his family. The family was very receptive yet the man was hesitant to even let us in. We decided one day to show the family the video "Juntos Para Siempre" - It was a very special mometo and the family seemed touched by the spirit, except of course, the father. He then tore into us, the Church and the video.
I then did something that was totally out of character, I cut him off and began to give him my testimony of Jesus Christ in a very strong and loud voice. I told him that I KNEW that Christ lives and he watches over us. The Spirit filled the room and the man stood shocked and just nodded his head in agreement.
I knew from that day forward the power of testimony could calm any fear, quiet any man and show God's power here on Earth. |
