Comments:
Pres. Russell K. Harris was serving a full time senior mission with Sister Margrit L. Harris in the Philippines Manila Mission in Public Affiars (they were in charge of the health fairs) when they were asked to serve as Mission President and wife. This allowed them to have 18 months prior service working with the Filipinos and prepared them well for their present assignment. In addition to that, they have two daughters who also served in the Phillipines- one in the Angeles mission( 1999-2000), and one in Olongapo mission (2001-2002).

President Harris and Sister Harris were running thier own consulting business together when they felt prompted to serve their first mission. They both celebrated their 50th birthdays shortly after arriving in Manila. Pres. Harris has also taught science in high shcool and junior high, and was a coal mining engineer for many years. He has held various callings in the church, from high council to councilor in the bishopbric, but enjoyed serving with the young men the most. Sister Harris also was a psychotherapist before they decided to start their own business in team building. She has been in the stake relief society presidency, primary presidency, and also taught in young womens, among other things. They have three children, one son and two daughters. No grandkids yet, but they are very proud of several grandpets!! Both of them have a passion for the gospel, and enjoy helping people reach their God given potential.
