I was transferred from the Baguio Mission to the new Quezon City Mission when it was created in 1986. Prior to this, I extended from an 18 month to a 24 month mission. I really felt like returning home since I knew my brother Reed was about ready to put in his mission papers. Things were not going so well financially for our family. This is why I felt the need to return home after 18 months. Then I could help financially while my brother served. I called my parents and we all concluded that I should stay for the full 24 months. One month after my transfer to the new mission, my brother Reed received his call to the Quezon City Mission! I was so excited! Pres. Leetham pulled me aside during a Zone Leader Conferene and asked if my brother and I got along. We are very good friends. He asked me if I would like to be companions with him prior to my return home. I could not believe this was happening. Reed and I served together as the brothers Lehi and Nephi did towards the end of the Book of Mormon. |
