Sweet & Sour Pork
- 1/2 kilo pork
- 1/3 cup vinegar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp. cooking oil
- 1 carrot
- 2 potatoes
- 2 bell pepper
- 1 onion
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
Cut the meat into square cubes and also the vegetables. Put
cooking oil into the skillet. Add meat and onions and water and
simmer until the meat is quite soft. Add the vegetables, vinegar,
and soy sauce. Add salt and sugar. Cover and cook until the meat
and the vegetables are cooked. Add the flour to thicken it and
add dash of Aji-no-moto.
Serve.
Pancit Behon
or Canton
- 1/2 kilo behon
- 1/3 kilo lean pork
- 1 large carrot
- 1/2 sayote
- 5 pcs. pepper bell
- 1 gram green beans
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 2 tbsp. oil
- 1 tbsp. soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 onion chopped
- 1 clove garlic chopped
Wash and sanitize the vegetables and peel. Slice the meat into
thin diagonal pieces. Set aside.
Slice the vegetables into very thin diagonal slices also. Put
oil in a pan and add garlic, onions. Add the meat and the soy
sauce, salt, sugar. Then add the vegetables and cover the pan.
When the pork and the vegetables are tender, put the crumbled
behon in the pan. Mix it all together and serve.
Leche Flan
- 2 cups milk
- 8 egg yolks
- 1 cup sugar
Finely grated rind of 1 dayap. Scald milk in double boiler for
15 minutes. Beat egg yolks. Add sugar, milk, and finely grated
rind. Stir until thoroughly mixed. Pour into a mold lined with
caramelized sugar. Place leche flan mold in pan of hot water and
bake until becomes firm.
Caramelized Sugar
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
Mix and cook until the sugar caramelizes. (Browns, but not to
a burned taste.)

Beef Adobo
- 1/3 kilo beef
- 1 piece bell pepper
- 1/2 onion
- 1/3 cup vinegar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
Slice the meat into 2 inch thick slices. Put meat into pan and
add the vinegar, salt, and soy sauce. Simmer for about one-half
hour until tender.
Add the cornstarch to thicken the sauce. Remove the meat to
the serving dish and cover with the sauce.
Put a ring of onion ane one of red bell pepper on top of each
piece of meat and serve.
Chopsuey--Filipino Style
- 1 small cauliflower
- 1/3 kilo pork 1/4 kilo potatoes
- 1/4 kilo carrots
- 1 gram green beans
- 2 pieces pepper bell
- 1 small onion
- 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
- 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 cups water
Slice the meat in one-inch squares. Peel all vegetables and
chop them into medium-sized pieces. Put oil in the skillet and
fry the onions together with the meat. Add the water. Then cover
until the meat is tender. Add the vegetables and soy sauce and
cover it again. When it's boiling, add the salt, the cornstarch
and dash of a little sugar.
Let it stand until ready to dish it up and serve.
Chicken Salad
- 1 whole chicken
- 1 tbsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 2 bay leaves
- 6 cups water
Wash and clean inside of chicken thorougly. Cook until tender
in water with seasonings. Remove chicken from water and cool.
Then cut meat from bones.
Save the chicken broth in refrigarator to use in other
recipes.
Cook one elbow macaroni according to the direction on package.
Drain and cool.
- 1 carrot, cut in tiny cubes
- 1 can pineaple tidbits, drained
- 1 cup cheese, cut in very small cubes
- 1 small packet of raisins (about 1/2 cup)
- sweet pickles
Mix above ingredients together with Kraft's Salad Dressing.
Add macaroni and chicken meat. Chill until time to serve.
Banana Cake
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 eggs
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 cup mashed bananas
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 cup sour milk
Cream together the sugar and butter until light and creamy.
Beat eggs in one at a time. Sift together with baking powder and
soda and salt to the other mixture, alternately with banana and
milk mixture. Add vanilla. Pour batter into two greased and
lightly floured pans. Bake in a moderate oven of about 350
degrees for about 30 minutes. The pan should be about 9 inches in
diameter. Put 2 slice banans in between the layers and cover with
powdered sugar icing after the cake is done and cool.
Sweet & Sour Pork
Cook 2 pounds of pork or spareribs, cut in pieces one inch
thick and 2 inches long, in one cup water for 20 minutes or until
tender. Pour off water if there is any left and cool the meat.
Sweet and Sour Sauce
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/3 cup vinegar
- 2/3 cup water
- 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
Cook over low heat until thickened, stirring constantly. Set
off of heat. Saue 1/4 cup onion sliced, and any of the following
that are your favorites:
Like:
- 1 medium cucumber
- green paper
- pineapple
- bamboo shoots
- carrots
Saute any or a combination of these for one minute in 2
table-spoons oil. Add to the pork a mixture of 2 tablespoons soy
sauce and 2 tablespoons cornstarch.
Heat oil for deep-fat frying and fry the meat until it is
crisp and brown. Remove and drain.
Combine meat with hot sweet-sour sauce and sauted vegetables.
(More sugar to be added to suit the taste)
Adobong Manok
- 1/2 kilong manok
- 6 na pirapirasong bawang (smashed)
- kalamansi anim na bilog
- vitsin at asin
- pepper powder
mix it all together, ilagay sa refrigerator, hayaan ng
30 minutes at pagkatapos you have to prepare slice
unions, pahaba. Put the oil on the pan then fry the
onions until golden fry, Ibuhos ang manok. Lagyan ng
kunting tuyo at takpan ng 10 minutes, serve hot.

Chicken
Adobo
- 1 Pound Chicken
- 6 Cloves of Garlic (smashed)
- About a Tablespoon of lemon juice
- Pinch of salt
- black pepper
mix it all together, and place in the refrigerator for
about 30 minutes. During this time slice some onions,
wide. Put some oil in a pan and fry the onions until
transparent, add the chicken. Add a little soy sauce and
let cook for 10 minutes, then serve or keep warm.

Palasak Na Letse Plan
- 1 basong gatas na walang banto
- 5 itlog
- 1/2 librang asukal
Babatihing mabuti ang limang itlog at ilalagay ang ikatlong
bahagi ng kalahating librang asukal at saka ilalahok ang gatas na
sariwang hindi pinakulo hanga't maari. Ilalagay sa isang hulmahan
ang natirang asukal na hahaluan ng isang kutsarang tubig,
isasalang sa apoy hangang halos masusunog na, at ikakalat sa loob
ng hulmahan, sa gawing puwitan na pareho ng kapal o nipis.
Ilalagay sa hulmahan ang maghalong gatas at mga binating itlog at
lulutuing parang tiniim o "baño de maria" hangang sa
tumigas. Hahaloan ng dahon ng dayap o balat ng dayap upang
pabanguhin.
Chicken Arroz Caldo
- 1/2 cup sticky rice (malagkit)
- 1/2 cup rice
- 1 inch ginger (cubed)
- 1 medium size chicken
- 3 segment garlic (chopped finely)
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 2 tbsp. lard
- 2 tbsp. patis
- 8 cups water
- 1/4 cup green onions (chopped)
- If desired add small amount of vitsen
Dress and cut the chicken into desired pieces.
Wash and clean very well. Pare and slice the ginger thin. Saute
the garlic, ginger and onion. Add the chicken and season with
patis. Cover very well and allow to simmer for few minutes. Add
rice and water, stirring all ingredients to avoid sticking to the
sides and bottom of the pan. Cook over low heat for a few minutes
before serving. Serve with Calanmansi. Serve hot. Good for 8 to
10 persons.
