It was fun for a while, but the day after General Conference in October 2005, my student and I were practicing engine failures and we had a serious accident. He was my only student who was a member of the church, and we both miraculously walked away from a devastating accident. I thought my career was over at that point. I got my licenses re-instated, then went back up to Washington State. Four days after arriving, I met my wife at an institute class. I found another instruction job in West Palm Beach, FL, and took off down there while my fiance finished up teaching elementary school and planning for the wedding. I did what I could, but was over 3000 miles away. We were married in the Portland, Oregon temple on August 26th, 2006 and we then moved down to Florida. I already had another job lined up, so we were only there for a month, and we moved to Louisiana where I currently fly personnel and equipment offshore to the oil platforms and rigs. We have plans of eventually moving back over to the West Coast, but we enjoy being 20 minutes away from the Baton Rouge temple and our ward is great, especially while I'm away at work for a week at a time. |
