Comments:
We visited Puerto Rico at Christmastime 2003. We drove through all of the areas where I had served. Most were still there! I had served in Guayanilla where there were just two member families at the time. We used to have to take a carro publico to Ponce for church. There is now a ward and a chapel in Guayanilla! It's a lot more Americanized, but still beautiful, and still Puerto Rico.
An older member of my current ward was the first priesthood leader in Puerto Rico. He was stationed in Aquadilla as an Air Force officer and called to preside over a “group” that drew service members from all over the island. The group that began there has grown to five stakes. Pretty amazing!
