Stories: 'Mutiny' in Samoa
Displaying 1 - 1 of 1 -- Add Story
One day during my mission in the mid-60s a number of us were flying from Upolu to Tutuila. I can no longer remember why or who — aue, ua toeaina le ulu — but I clearly recall a couple of our fellow passengers in the old DC3 that took off that morning from the grass airstrip at Faleolo:
The famous actor Marlon Brando was on our flight with his wife, Tarita. He had met her a few years earlier when they remade and co-starred in "Mutiny on the Bounty" in Tahiti.
I remember he was short, stood off by himself and didn’t acknowledge us in any way; but Tarita, a Tahitian-Chinese woman, seemed interested in the Samoans and gave us a nice smile. Of course, I didn’t notice that she was very attractive and dressed in a Polynesian print outfit. |
