My maternal grandfather, Christian James Larsen, served a mission to Tonga from Dec 1916 until early in 1920. I have never seen his name on any books regarding Tonga. He was serving there during the Spanish Flu Pandemic and was so ill that he nearly died. His companion did die. Grandfather regained consciousness on the day that his companion was buried. I have a photo of a small group in front of the mission home, including the Mission President, his wife and son, my grandfather, an Elder identified only as Culter, and a small family group identified as Winward, his wife, and daughter. There are 5 other men unidentified on the photo. |
