Chad,
I found the winters to be short, only about 2 months, and the summers long, like 8 months, but I'm from Minnesota so I will try to step out of my shoes and into yours.
First of all, during the winter it gets down to maybe around 20 degrees, 20 very damp degree that is. If you are not used to freezing temps, you will want something warm, but not too bulky. You have to lug it every time you move and if it's too heavy you will get cold wearing it.
During the summer it only gets to 90 a few times, but with 90% humidity, well being from Florida you probably know about that. It's like desert at 110 degrees. Bring a lot of light weight shirts for summer.
Expect to be fed well and to have a lot of lemonade in the summer. A lot of people will give you lemonade because they feel bad for you out in the opressive heat, and then tell you to get lost when you start teaching. I guess that happens everywhere.
I hope your mission goes as good as mine. Sometimes I wish I were still there. Virginia people are sweet, they don't slam the doors too hard and a lot of them enjoy talking to you.

: I just got my call to the Virginia Ricmond mission and I need to know some info on some essential items I should take with me such as raincoates, p-day clothes, etc.. What kinda weather am I gonna face? I am originally from Florida, but I have been in the desert for a few years and I need some info. IF anyone can clue me in, please e-mail! I report to the MTC on March 14, 2001 Hope to hear from you.
