It's the best mission in the world. As he may have heard from the mission office, the area has alot of history. Richmond has the Confederate White House, then up in Charlottesville is Thomas Jefferson's House (Monticello), just to name a few. I served in that mission, and go back as often as I can. The whole mission covers from Franklin West Virginia heading east to Harrisonburg, VA. Then down along the coast to Nags Head North Carolina. It's not too big of a cultural change, but you do notice the difference. Have fun, and enjoy the work. :)
