Zobrist Reunion

A mission reunion was held on the 5th of October in Sandy, Utah. Many returned missionaries were present including their spouses, parents, and in some cases, their children. All those with whom I've spoken commented how fun the reunion was and how glad they were that they were able to attend.

After a time period of socializing, to renew friendships created in the mission field, a brief meeting was held with Sister and President Zobrist being the key-note speakers. Matthew Barnes and Christopher Lewis performed some musical pieces from various CDs created by the mission, and Jared Warburton and Daniel West played a game which resulted in various winners. The prize was one of the mission flags, which includes the Mission logo in color.

President and Sister Zobrist then spoke to everyone, sharing some of their thoughts and testimonies. Everyone seems to agree that the highlight of the reunion was the Zobrist's presence and the realization of the deep impact the mission has in one's life, forever. The mission hymn was sung with passion, the Spirit was present, and joy followed.

Refreshments were available including, of course, guaraná antartica to help alleviate the "saudades" of the mission. Special special thanks to President and Sister Zobrist for their participation and work for the reunion, as well as Daniel West and Jared Warburton.

Those unable to attend were indeed missed and will hopefully be able to attend future reunions.

A mission reunion was held in Provo, Utah on the Friday prior to General Conference.  I was unable to attend, however, and have not received further information about the event as to what happened, who was present, et cetera.  Please contact me if you have any details regarding the reunion, including a description of events, activities, or any pictures that you have of the event.

Zobrist Reunion

A mission reunion was held at Elder Rogers’ Uncle’s ranch in Utah and was a great success!  Many mission alumni were present from the very old to the newly returned missionaries.  Activities included horseback riding (or falling, in some cases), drinking lots of guaraná (Antartica, é claro), and socializing.

President Zobrist put a few Elders on the spot, asking them to come forward and sing “A Lenda do Grande Zobrão”, one of the musical numbers included as part of Alma II – if you don’t have a copy of Alma II and would like one, they’re about $100 on Ebay!  Actually, talk to President or Sister Zobrist, as they can likely help).

Sister spoke of mission memories and shared her testimony, and President Zobrist provided encouragement and spoke of memories, testimony, and the Spiritual effects of a mission.  President and Sister provided a horseshoe gift to those present as part of the training lesson, in hopes for success and good fortune for everyone.  The evening was concluded with the mission hymn.

To those unable to attend, we hope to see you next year!

UPCOMING REUNION FOR PRESIDENT LINHARES ALUMNI:

 Saturday

March 26, 2005

1600 N 900 E

Provo, UT 84604

RSVP

801-356-0609

As many of you know, President and Sister Linhares are coming to the United States for General Conference in April.  They are going to be in Utah the weekend before conference and they wanted to have a mission reunion that weekend.  (That is also Easter Weekend)

So, the mission reunion will be Saturday, March 26.  We are meeting in a chapel in Provo, UT, and the address is:

1600 N 900 E

Provo, UT 84604

(This is the chapel right across the street from Deseret Towers)

We are going to have lunch at 12:00, with a program afterwards.  Please wear Sunday clothes because we will be in the chapel.  After the program, please feel free to stay and mingle with the other missionaries and President and Sister.

Please bring your families, girlfriends, boyfriends, parents, kids, etc.  Everyone is welcome.  I know President and Sister would like to meet the important people in your lives, as well as see you again.

Sister has also asked that you bring photos of your engagements, weddings, children, families, etc. for her to keep in her photo album.  She wants to have pictures of her children and grandchildren!

We will be in the chapel for most of the afternoon, so even if you can't come for lunch, please stop by later.  We will be ending at 5:00 pm.

We have also scheduled a special session in the Provo Temple for that night.  If you want to go to the temple, you need to be at the temple at 6:15.  Be sure to tell the front desk that you are with the Brasil Santa Maria Mission session.  We will be attending the 7:00 pm session.

Please RSVP to Megan Calvin for the lunch and for the temple session BEFORE March 17.  I need to know a rough count to order food and to tell the Temple President how many people we are expecting.  The lunch is $5 per person.  You can RSVP by replying to this email, or calling  801-356-0609 and telling me how many people are going to eat lunch with us, and how many people are going to the temple with us.
