Mission Song

Mission Song-AN INDIANA MORNING
by: Jette Halladay

On an Indiana Morning
When The World is still asleep,
While the army of the Lord
Makes preparation…
In humility, each battle
They begin upon their knees,
With the faith that God
Will lead them by the hand.
Oh the gospel was restored
Through a young boy
And so now the young these
Gospel truths defend.
In youthful innocence
They save the lives of men
Our two thousand stripling warriors
Once again.
In their silent glistening armor
They march forth defending truth;
But the enemy seeks refuge
In disguise;
Through dishonesty and failure,
“Show me signs”, and “Give me proof”
But our soldiers gently sweep the shackles
From their eyes.
They may be wounded by the
Swords of selfish men,
And they may falter and be despised
Oh, but through a loving Father
They will always rise again,
For these soldiers are angels
In His eyes.
On an Indiana morning
When the world is still asleep,
Our two thousand stripling warriors
Rise again.

The Indiana Mission Song (to the tune of Caissons Go Rolling Along)
From the farm, from the city,
from the very mountain tops,
to the Indiana Mission we've come.

With a message of truth
for all people on the earth,
and we know that our work's never done.

We pledge not to hedge
in the service of our Lord,
we'll serve him with all our strength and might.
We'll thrust in our sickle
for now the field is white,
as the mission goes rolling along.

Up at six, out by nine,
pray and study all the time,
and the mission will roll right along.

Always strive to do right
never shirk or shun the fight,
and the mission will roll right along.

A marvelous work
and wonder we will do
in teaching the gospel of our Lord.
We'll find lost sheep
and bring them in the fold,
and the mission will roll right along.

Time is short, all to short,
for the task we have to do,
so let's keep on a rolling along.

Don't regret or be sorry
for a job we didn't do,
but let's always be one step ahead.

And when they compare
our mission with the rest,
and people will ask which mission's best,
these are the words we want to hear,
"Indiana's the mission that's best."

From the farm, from the city,
from the very mountain tops,
to the Indiana mission we've come.

With a message of truth
for all people on the earth,
and we know that our work's never done.

We pledge not to hedge
in the service of our Lord.
We'll serve him with all
our strength and might.
We'll thrust in our sickle
for now the field is white,
as the mission goes rolling along.
