Looking for 3 Elders 15 Jan 2012
If former Elders Bailey, Sproul and Feltner are on this list, I would like you to know that your patience paid off. Not only did you teach my husband and I the gospel, but we paid it forward. Our eldest son is currently serving a mission in Croatia and our second eldest son is gathering the funds he needs so that he also can serve a mission.

How grateful I am that you knocked on our door one October morning. Your patience panned out and now you can see the results! :-)

Thank-you again. SB

Wasilla 29 Sep 2008
Anyone that served in Wasilla remember knocking on Sarah Palin's family's home? Elder Prisbrey and I surely had to. We had NO ONE to teach when I was there and all we did was knock on doors! ;-) Who knows. Maybe. She was 17-18 when I was there.

Elder Steve Brown (1978 -1980) Obituary 27 Aug 2008
Stephen Wayne Brown
Stephen Wayne Brown 7/15/1958 ~ 8/25/2008 Stephen Wayne Brown, beloved husband, father, brother and son passed away suddenly Monday, August 25, 2008 of a heart attack at home. Steve was the first child born to Janet Pehrson and Wayne C. Brown in Salt Lake City, Utah.He was an active and faithful member of the LDS Church in which he served in many capacities. He served as a faithful missionary in the Anchorage, Alaska mission, was a bishop in the Mueller Park 5th Ward, and was currently serving as a member of the Bishopric of the University 13th Singles Ward. His energy and testimony blessed the lives of many, but particularly the youth he served. Steve graduated from the Olympus High class of '76 and later the University of Utah with a BS in communications. He was also a member of the Crimson Club. He was a partner at the Summit Group since 1986, President of the firm, and instrumental in the firm's growth to the largest locally owned communications firm in the state of Utah. He had a great sense of honesty and gave the truth whether you liked it or not. Many people came to work at the Summit Group because of their interactions with Steve. His personality was instrumental in the companies' growth. He was married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple to Cindy Fagg on June 20, 1986. Steve loved hunting, fishing, camping and the "Runnin' Utes." But his greatest accomplishment and love was his wife and children, whom he served with all his heart. The most enjoyable part of his life was spent attending his kids games, concerts, and recitals. He was their coach, cheerleader and friend. He is survived by his parents, Janet and Wayne Brown; his wife, Cindy who he loved dearly and his children: Meagan, Sarah, Katelyn, Michael, Elizabeth and Benjamin; also his siblings, Jeffery (Chantal) Brown, Michelle (Joe) Hanna, Jennifer (Scott) Brown, Leslie (Brian) Paul; father and mother-in-law, Don and Lavell Fagg; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. The Alaskan- Canadian Mission 20 Oct 2007
It was fun looking at the pictures before the mission was split. Back in the 1960's I think the Alaskan- Canadian mission was one of the largest in the church. I especially enjoyed the picture of the Mission home on Connaught Dr. and also the 1965 Mission Conference, with Thomas S. Monson Presiding and our Mission President Stewart Durrant conducting. It was neat being in attendance. I am presently putting my slides onto C. D.s and will see if I have some pictures of that era to share. Iwouild be interested to find out who posted the picture of the Mission Conference, cause I would like to get a larger copy, if possible, with maybe better resolution. Thanks...

Death of Glen Barratt

Glen Curtis Barratt, 80, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away July 8, 2002 in American Fork. He was born March 5, 1922 in American Fork to Thomas A. and Ann Preston Barratt. He married his sweetheart Dolores Hansen June 12, 1943 in San Diego, California. In 1963 Glen and Dolores went to Alaska and built the Best Western Barratt Inn. I am very sad to tell you that Glen passed away at 6:00 AM this morning. He had two big strokes in January and mini strokes many times since.Three and four a day until about June 15. He was in the hospital in American Fork for only five days and he went peacefully in his sleep without pain. All his family have visited in turns on a daily basis and we feel we served his wishes by keeping him at home this past few months.
His funeral was Thursday, July 11th at Anderson Mortuary in American Fork, Utah.

Message from the Hendricks

July 13, 2002
Dear Saints in Alaska,
Just wanted you to know that we are home and had a wonderful trip.....all 4,011 miles of it. However, we are truly spoiled now, because when we were seeing the ice fields in Jasper Park in Canada, we just looked at them and said, "We have seen better ones than this in Alaska."

We arrived home yesterday afternoon and visited all afternoon with our three daughters and grandchildren and son in law that are close. We will see the others next week when they come for our welcome home.

We had a treat when we went through a session at the Cardston Temple. Elder Schaalje's grandparents were working at the temple that day and we had a short visit with them. Also in the temple, in the men's wash room a young man said, "Sir, I know this is not possible, but you look just like the Mission President in Alaska." His name was Williams and he is from Houston. It was fun for them to visit.

We love you all. Serving a mission in Alaska has been such a blessing in our lives. We have been so blessed to know you. You are such true and dedicated saints. We hope to see you again.

love,

Vance and Diane Hendricks
