Highlights from the reunion with Presidente y Hermana Hall on October 1, 2005.
We had a great mission reunion before this October's General Conference. We wish that everyone could be there. Sister Hall made Sloppy Joes, or as one of the latin's called them, "Sloppy McDonald's", and of course there were lots of cookies and treats to share. Several of the younger children got to "Trick or Treat" a bit early from Sister Hall's pumpkin. Elder Nathan Gardner's daughter sang us a song, just to get more candy. She sang, Latter-Day Prophets, and did a great job. Here are some other highlights: Sister Hall's Message Bible Puzzle Game from Presidente Pictures from the reunion

Sister Hall's Message
Sister Hall spoke with us about the importance of our mothers. At the time of our last reunion, she had just put her mother in the hospital. Her feelings and comments about her mother are very tender. She shared the following poems with us:
We Can Only Have One Mother
We can only have one mother, patient, kind, and true,
No other friend in all the world will be so true to you.
For all her loving kindness she asks nothing in return,
If all the world deserts you, to mother you can turn.
Many tears you’ve caused her, when you were sad or ill,
Maybe many sleepless nights, tho’ grown you cause her still.
So every time you leave her, or when ‘ere you come or go,
Give her a kind word or a kiss, ‘tis what she craves, I know.
We can only have one mother, none else can take her place.
You can’t tell how you’ll need her, ‘till you miss her loving face.
Be careful how you answer her, choose every word you say,
Remember she’s your mother, ‘tho now she’s old and grey.
We can only have one mother, oh, take her to your heart.
You cannot tell how soon the time when you and she must part.
Let her know you love her dearly, cheer & comfort her each day.
You can never get another when she has passed away.
* THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR MOTHER *
* * * * *
God knew in his great wisdom
He could not be everywhere,
So he put his little children
In a loving Mother’s care.

THE GIFT
Long ago...before the world was,
in another sphere of time and space,
perhaps we were inseparable
you and I …
Before our birth …
perhaps there was some deciding
who should come first,
who be the Mother
and who the daughter,
here on earth.
But of the two
you were allowed to come
forth at an earlier time and day
to bless my life with trust,
beauty, and love,
with a special joy,
and to bring my way
a oneness
such few will ever know.

God Has a Positive Answer
You Say: It's impossible I'm too tired Nobody really loves me I can't go on
I can't figure things out I can't do it I'm not able I'm not worth it I can't forgive myself I can't manage I'm afraid
I'm always worried and frustrated I'm not smart enough I fell all alone
| God Says: All things are possible I will give you rest I love you My grace is sufficient
I will direct your steps You can do all things I am able It will be worth it I forgive you I will supply all your needs I have not given you a spirit of fear Cast all your cares on me
I give you wisdom I will never leave you or forsake you | Scripture Reference: Luke 18:27 Matthew 11:28-30 John 3:16, John 3:34 2 Corinthians 12:9, Psalm 91:15 Proverbs 3:5-6 Philippians 4:13 2 Corinthians 9:8 Romans 8:28 1 John 1:9, Romans 8:1 Philipians 4:19 2 Timothy 1:7

Bible Puzzle Game
Find the 30 books of the bible in the puzzle below. Go ahead, read through it. How well did you do? At the mission reunion our high score was 21.
This is a most remarkable puzzle. It was found by a gentleman in an airplane seat pocket, on a flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu, keeping him occupied for hours. He enjoyed it so much he passed it on to some friends. One friend from Illinois worked on this
while fishing from his john boat. Another friend studied it while playing his banjo. Elaine Taylor, a columnist friend was so intrigued by it she mentioned it in her weekly newspaper column. Another friend judges the job of solving the puzzle so involving, she brews a cup of tea to help her nerves. There will be some names that are really easy to spot. That’s a fact. Some people, however, will soon find themselves in a jam, especially since the book names are not necessarily capitalized. Truthfully, from answers we get, we are forced to admit it usually takes a minister or scholar to see some of them at the worst. Research has shown that something in our genes is responsible for the difficulty we have in seeing the words in this paragraph. During a recent fund raising event, which features this puzzle, the Alpha Delta Phi lemonade booth set a new sales record. The local paper, the chronicle, surveyed over 200 patrons who reported that this puzzle was one of the most difficult they had ever seen. As Daniel Humana humbly puts it, “the books are all right here in plain view hidden from sight.” Those able to find all of them will hear great lamentations from those who have to be shown. One revelation that may help is that books like Timothy and Samuel may occur without their numbers. Also, keep in mind, that punctuation and spaces in the middle are normal. A chipper attitude will help you compete really well against those who claim to know the answers. Remember there is no need for a mad exodus, there really are 30 books of the Bible lurking somewhere in this paragraph waiting to be found.
