Presidents: Leo P. Talbot (1994 - 1997) | Boyden E. Lee (1997 - 2000) | Served: 1997 - 1999 | Areas Served: Canberra, Illawara, Liverpool, Mortdale, Eastlakes (Tongan), Cambeltown (Tongan), Canberra, Liverpool (Tongan) | Companions: Edwin Perry Popham | Benjamin Romney | Your Occupation: Public Servant, Soldier (Army Reserve) | Spouse: Elizabeth Kikkert | Comments: After my mission, I lived in Sydney for about a year. I married a beautiful Tongan girl (Elizabeth Falamake), and we moved to Adelaide for studies. After completing law school in Adelaide, I was offered work in Canberra, and accordingly moved back within the ASSM boundaries.
I have now been living here in Canberra for a bit over a year, and have enjoyed living here (despite the cold). I am in fact living in my missionary greenie area, and I served for six months as a missionary in the ward that I am currently in. As you can imagine, moving back here brought back a lot of memories.
I have been working for the government here, while studying part time to be admitted as a legal practitioner. I sat my final exam last week, which was a big relief, as it will now free up my time a bit for other things. We have four wonderful kids (two boys, two girls), and I am currently serving as Bishop of the Belconnen Ward. I love my calling, and love the fact that once again I have the privilege to build the Lord's kingdom down here in Canberra. I still get to keep my Tongan up, as I teach a Tongan language class at my work once a week, and I also had the privilege of performing a Tongan wedding this past weekend. The Samoan branch in Canberra has now been incorporated into the Belconnen ward, so I also have the privilege of serving with many wonderful Samoan members, and I am currently trying to also learn Samoan. |

LDS QUOTE: |
"You are a great army of returned missionaries. Go forward with new zeal and determination, and through your example shine the light of the gospel in this troubled world. This is the Lord's work in which we are engaged. God lives. Jesus is the Christ. We belong to His Church. This is my witness to you in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
