Hey ASMers. Just enquiring as to whether this site has completely ceased as I still see an entry made in August of this year (2012)
|
|
I hope you guys had a fantastic reunion.

[NOTE: The content of this invitation was sent as an email to those missionaries who have previously sent their email address to the Tingeys. They have asked me to collect and maintain their list of email addresses for their missionaries. (They want to move away from using the U.S. Postal Service TO using emails.) So, please do send to me at svanatter@cox.net your current email contact information. And spread the word to other missionaries. Thanks very much, Scott Vanatter. P.S. The Tingey's also included this personal note attached to the formal mailed invitation.]
AUSTRALIA SYDNEY MISSION REUNION -- OCT. 5, 2012
Dear Missionary Family:
We will plan to meet again this year in our annual mission reunion the Friday before General Conference, in the same Meeting House where we have met for several years -- Hidden Valley Third Ward -- at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5. The address is 11755 South Highland Drive (2075 East), Sandy, UT 84070 if you have a GPS. We appreciate Wilf and Laura Blum, who again have scheduled the Building and ordered lovely food for us to enjoy. Contributions of $10.00 to $20.00 per couple will be appreciated if you can -- to keep them solvent! We hope you and your family can plan to attend. At about 7:30 p.m. Sister Tingey and I will share a few thoughts and feelings from our recent assignment in the Washington DC Temple.
Scott Vanatter has volunteered to help us keep an updated document of Names, Addresses, Emails and Phone #'s in order -- for contacting you all. Not a small task! But WE NEED YOUR HELP! WE PREFER EMAIL TO CONTACT YOU, IF YOU ARE KEEPING ONE CURRENT. It is less expensive for a large group. WHEN YOU MOVE OR CHANGE A NUMBER OR EMAIL, YOU NEED TO LET SCOTT VANATTER OR SISTER TINGEY KNOW. SEE OUR EMAIL ADDRESSES at the top of this email. And when you see someone you have not seen for awhile, please inform them of our Reunion or how to contact us. Thank you so much for this help.
We appreciate those of you who have contacted us on occasion at Christmas time or for other happenings or just to keep in touch. We love knowing of the special things you have going on. Like you, we are busy all the time trying to keep up with our children and grandchildren and many of our extended family. But we love it. It is so good to be home. Bill & Lela, Julie & Blair Wall, and Alan & Kerry still live close in Kaysville and Layton. Tricia & Jean Eddy Kamba are still in Ft. Saskatchewan near Edmonton in Alberta, Canada. We currently have three of our grandchildren home from missions and going to school in Provo -- Alan's Kendall home from Toronto, Tricia's Brent home from Leeds, England, and Bill's Mike home from the Republic of Congo Mission in Africa. Bill sends out another missionary in October and Julie one in the Spring. I have sealed three grandchildren in marriage in the temple now -- one of Tricia's, and one of Julie's and one of Alan's as well as some of YOUR children also. One of my favorite things to do -- along with growing fruits and vegetables for the family. Sister Tingey enjoys growing flowers, but is glad I will do the other.
We look forward to seeing you.
Faithfully Yours,
President and Sister Tingey

I just received the following message from President Jones:
"I am President Trevor D Jones, Stake President of the Sydney Australia Hyde Park Stake that is situated within the Sydney South Mission. The Stake has just published a 10 year history of the Stake between its formation in February 1997 and February 2007. The history contains many testimonies and photgrpahs of members and leaders past and present as well as many of the
coverts to the Church in the Stake over the past ten years (including all Mission Presidents who served between 1997 to date). Should any former missionary that served in the Hyde Park Stake like a copy please contact me."
You may contact President Jones with the "Send email" link on his profile page:

Hello all! just looking for advice on what i need to take into the field. How cold does it get there? Do I need sweaters or a winter coat? Oh..and something I have been wondering about...do people wear UGG boots often. I was thinking about taking some, but didn't know if I would stick out or if it would be appropriate. Also, does President McMaster have an e-mail? If not, what time of day is best to call there from the United States? (I'm Eastern Time)
Thanks!

Dear ASM Missionaries from 1985-1988,
Sister Tingey requests the pleasure of your company at the Australia Sydney Mission 20 year reunion. All missionaries who served during the Burton S. and Beverley D. Tingey era, and their families, are invited to attend.
Where: LDS Institute at the University of Utah
When: Sunday, October 7th, 2007
(General Conference Weekend)
Time: 6pm - 8pm
Dress: Sunday or nice business casual
We will be pleased to hear from Sister Tingey, and also anticipate the pleasure of having David and Jill in attendance at the reunion.
Please come prepared to introduce your family, give a brief update on your activities over the past 20 years, and share a memorable missionary experience. You are welcome to bring any missionary pictures, photo albums, or souvenirs you would like to display (this is a wonderful way to bring back many great memories).
Light refreshments will be served.
Please RSVP to Devon Hansen at ddevonhansen@yahoo.com or by calling 801-544-9758.
For those who are not able to attend (it is a long flight for many), please email a brief history and/or missionary experience you would like to have shared with the Tingey's and those in attendance. Now is also a great time for everyone to update their profile at www.mission.net so we can get reacquainted.
P.S. Please contact your companions and any other missionaries you keep in contact with to ensure they have received word of the reunion.

"His closest confidante, the fiercely protective US Marine Gabe Shumway describes him as inspirational, vulnerable, and deeply intuitive. Possessing a colossally dry wit, he is generous to a fault."
This biography is pretty funny

Kee Chan (ex-Summer Hill Ward member) sort of commissioned me to be his biographer on imdb.com, and his details are shaping up slowly (if their editors would work quicker...gosh!)...check it out:
Kee Chan
Should have pix up soon for all you die hard 'Chan' fans out there. (we know you all are)

Hey,
I'm looking for people who knew 'Con' (Costatino) on their mission. Some call him the "eternal investigator" of the Summer Hill ward (Hyde Park Stake), but he's really coming around.
Also I'm looking for anyone who has any contact with Elders Kelcey Kemp and Ashton Holbrook (people he's mentioned that had a positive influence on him), and get them to write me a letter that I can give to Con, and ask if they'd be willing to open up a communication with him.
I really think if we can get this going, Con will really come around. Thanks!
