Stories: Time is Up! General Authorities Do Have a Sense of Humour!

| While serving as a Zone Leader with Elder Ralph Engstrom in Mount Colah, we were attending a missionary conference for all the ASM missionaries, and Elder Marvin J. Ashton of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles was in attendance. During the course of the conference, Elder Ashton asked President Tingey to invite me to speak for 5 minutes on 'Why I loved My Companion." I was taken by surprise and went to the podium with some apprehension. I don't recall what I said, but I do remember that 5 minutes later, Elder Ashton's wristwatch alarm sounded unexpectedly for all present, and indicated that my time was up, causing all present to burst into laughter. Of course my apprehension disappeared, and I learnt that General Authorities have a good sense of humour. |
