Comments: My wife Dawna and I have two sons and two daughters who are growing faster than I imagined they would. For a while it seemed that we would never get past the diaper phase, but this fall we will have the youngest in kindergarten and the oldest in high school (scary).
7 years in North Carolina have passed almost as a quickly as the 2 years as a missionary! There have been a few updates recently that have caused me to come back and check up on old companions and see how they are doing.
In the spring of 2007 I was able to visit France and Germany (my sister's husband was stationed in Germany). I was able to go to my "greenieville" of Mulhouse and go to church in the chapel (it was recently renovated with a new baptismal font). Some of the members I remembered were not there (it was conference and we watched the Priesthood Session at 11:00 am). I was amazed at how memories fade over time because if it weren't for the GPS in the car, I would not have found the chapel! I drove by my old apartments and reminisced a bit. We attended church the following week in Luxembourg (never served there) but it was fun to take the family to places that had been a part of my experience as a missionary, plus many more (Paris for example!) |
