President Simplício and his wife have celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on January 8, 2005!
President Simplício was born on the 27 of March, 1964 in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. In 1980 he met the missionaries and in the first discussion accepted baptism, for he received his testimony when the missionaries taught about the Prophet Joseph Smith. In 1982 he served a full time mission in the Brasil São Paulo Norte Mission when it included the area of the Brasil Ribeirão Preto Mission. After his mission he returned to Fortaleza where he met and married Sister Simplício.
In 1985 he began to work for the Associação Brasileira da Igreja de Jesus Cristo dos Santos dos Últimos Dias (The Brazilian Association of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In the church he served as Elders Quorum President, member of the Stake High Council and Second Councilor in the Stake Presidency. In 1990 he was transfered from Fortaleza to Recife, Pernambuco, Brasil to work as Especialista de Bens Imóveis (Real Estate Assetts Specialist) for the Church. He served as a member of the High Council for the Jaboatão dos Guararapes Brasil Stake. In 1993 he served as bishop of Ala Candeias (Candeias Ward), but in 1994 he was called to serve as Second Councilor of the Jaboatão Brasil Litoral Stake. In March of 2001 he was called to be First Councilor in the Stake Presidency. In 2001 he also began working as Comprador Técnico (Technical Buyer) for the Church.
President Simplício graduated as a Geography Professor in 1996. He studied administration and in 2001 he graduated with an MBA in prospectiva-estratégica (Strategic Planning).
President Simplício speaks fluent English and a little Spanish.
President Simplício will begin his term as President of the Brasil Ribeirao Preto Mission on 1 July, 2002.
