Presidents: Joseph Toth (1998 - 2000) | Served: 1998 - 2000 | Areas Served: Miskolc, Kozep Buda, Szombathely, Kispest, Gyor, Zuglo | Companions: Jacob LeGrand Butler | Brady D. Butterfield | Paul R. Nurnberg | Bryan Bradford Rasmussen | András Tóth | Your Occupation: Medical Student/Army Officer | Spouse: (none) | Comments: I can't believe it has been five years since I came home from Hungary. Since returning, I have completed a BA in economics from BYU, a masters degree in epidemiology from George Washington University, and I am now starting medical school at the Walter Reed National Medical Center just outside of Washington DC. One of the requirements for going to school there involves a commitment of military service, so I have also accepted a commision as a lieutenant in the US Army. My professional destiny as an Army physician will be treating those who have volunteered to defend our country. It is a job description I am very excited about fulfilling.
Outside of school, I have had a lot of fun. I lived in Bulgaria for three months; did an internship in Congress; worked as a construction foreman; went diving in Puerto Rico; ran a marathon; and spent at least one semester skiing more than I did in class. I have also kept up on my churching, and currently serve as the activities co-chair in my singles ward -- Yes, despite my best efforts, I still find myself a single man.
I often think of my time in Hungary, and the remarkable people with whom I served. My expereinces with you changed my life, and I am grateful for your examples and testimonies. If you get a chance, drop me a line and let me know how you are doing. |
