Served: 1974 - 1975 | Associated Alumni | Comments: President Eberhard was the first mission president and he was from Centerville Ut. He was called to the Portland Oregon mission and served there as mission president two years. At that time he was called to open the Idaho mission and did so serving one year July 74-75. The Idaho mission at that time also included most of Utah the eastern part of Oregon and as small part of western Wyoming. Missionaries were sent into Utah as far as Bountiful (perhaps even north Salt Lake City) while serving in the Idaho mission. July 1975 President Eberhard was called to organize the Utah Mission. All elders who were serving in Utah at the July 1 1975 date stayed in Utah and served in the Utah mission under President Eberhard. I was in Utah and thus was transferred to the new mission (this is the reason my service time in the Idaho mission only shows one year of service). At that time He moved into his home in Centerville Utah and presided over the Utah mission for one year before being released. As far as I know he is the only Mission president who left his home served as mission president and then returned to his home, while still serving (not having been released) and presided over a mission from his own home. If my memory serves me correct we had about 110 elders in the Idaho mission from 1974-75.

LDS QUOTE: |
"The Lord has given no greater charge to His people than sharing the gospel with our Heavenly Fathers children. Missionaries take people out of the darkness of the world and lead them to the safety and light of the gospel of Jesus Christ. To find and teach and baptize and confirm someone who has never paid much attention to God or to Christ and His great atoning sacrifice is one of the greatest services a priesthood holder can provide."
