Tsunami Update 13 Mar 2011

The final two missionaries I mentioned in my earlier email are now safe and accounted for. They arrived at an evacuation center and were finally able to send a text message to their Mission President.

When you look at the destruction in videos and photos, you know that the Lord had a hand in protecting our missionaries!

Karl and I have long-time friends serving in this mission, a Senior couple, and we can't wait to hear their story. I'll share what I can, when I can.

We have received an update that all of the missionaries in Sendai have been contacted, and are fine, except for 2, and they do not live in the affected area. This good news is encouraging!

Sorry, Japan group for the repeat:

I have been so focused on the earthquake and finding out news about all of the missionaries, that I totally spaced it regarding our native Japanese missionaries who have family members living in the worst hit areas! I can't imagine how hard it would be, waiting and wondering about their loved ones--family, relatives, neighbors, fellow ward members.

I think we should make it a point to have a collective Fast this Sunday for those who are suffering from the effects of this earthquake. And pray for those missionaries still awaiting news of family and friends.
