Here's where I 've been at since the end of the mission: struggled to write a play about Jos. Smith (never finished) while managing an outlet store for Corning in Toronto; worked as translator for Kabuki tour of Canada and US; 1 yr after mission met my wife, Marhee, who just finished her mission in Chicago; married 1 yr later (1989); attended Univ of Waterloo and obtained BA and MA in philosophy while being ward and then stake clerk; Marhee completed B.Mus at Wilfrid Laurier Univ in same city; son, David, born (1993); moved back to Toronto so she could pursue B.Ed. to become high school teacher; during that year, publised The Toronto Journal of Interfaith Dialogue (1 issue, well received, lost money); next year entered Univ of Toronto law school; daughter, Hannah, born (1995); wrote and edited for Japanese Canadian newspapers; worked in immigration and commercial law; helped with purchase/sale of church lands in Toronto; now a condominium/land development lawyer in Kitchener, Ontario; on board of KW Philharmonic Choir (for which my wife is a singer); still doing freelance writing; have been on high council, stake exec sec and stake miss pres, and in bishopric; currently HPGL in Waterloo Ward. 41 this year. 20 years since my mission started. Whoosh, time moves on! |
