Comments:
My Japanese has served me well over the years, helping me to secure two jobs and used extensively in a third job.

My Fiance Heidi married me when I returned home. (Remember, I was engaged on my mission, stupid, stupid, stupid, but it worked.) We have been married since Dec. of '79. We have two boys and two girls. I have served in numerous ward and stake callings, currently a contented Primary teacher.

On a trip to Japan via Kansai from SFO, I had an interesting experience. Just after takeoff a man was reseated next to me, since I was the only one on the row. He immediately extracted a book and began reading, so I figured he did the trip often and preferred not to be bothered by visiting. As we were landing, I decided to ask what took him to Japan. He explained he was an accountant and had Japanese clients and spoke Japanese. I replied that I too spoke Japanese. He went on to say he had served a mission there. I echoed the statement and asked what mission he had served in. Sendai. I asked his name, Tommy Monson. Then I could see him as the young missionary who had been with me in Izumi, through a 7.0 jishin, seen the blacks receive the priesthood, and comfort me when my father was killed in a plane crash. We talked each other's ears off for the next two hours as we cleared customs and rode the train to Osaka. What are the chances? We nearly missed each other even though we were seated together. Fear not, open your mouths.
