I served from October 1981 to April 1983. I was one of those missionaries whose call was issued for two years and changed to 18 months.
My MTC companion was Mark Leon Empey of Blackfoot, Idaho.
My first area was Sendai South, in Nagamachi. My companions were Masamichi Kudo, Lorenzo Frazier (Orem, UT), and Thomas Baker (Lehi, UT).
My second area was Tsuruoka. My companions were Duane Nicholayson (Salem, OR), John Bradley-my first junior companion-(Logan UT), and Boyd Brimley (Murray, UT).
I served as zone leader in my third area, Hachinohe, with Jeff Matthews (Kaysville, UT). We moved the zone apartment to Aomori when Elder Matthews returned home.
Aomori was my last area and I served with Chad Thompson (Clarkston, UT).
I met my wife, Christen, at BYU and was sealed to her in the Los Angeles Temple in December of 1983. We have three children, a daughter and twin boys. Our daughter is a nurse, married a wonderful man in the Salt Lake temple, and gave us our first grandchild on Thanksgiving Day 2010. One of our boys served a mission to the Dominican Republic and is married. His twin brother served a mission in Brazil.
We love the gospel of Jesus Christ. We love to serve where we can. |
