I married Kerstine Ipson from Monroe Utah in 1978. We have 4 children, the youngest of which is now attending BYU-Provo. Two of the four are marrried. Hard to believe how fast they grew up! I did my doctoral studies at Purdue University, and was a professor at Louisiana State University. Shortly after receiving tenure in 1992, BYU came calling and I have been there ever since. I served as a bishop in Louisiana and in a Springville, Utah stake presidency, as well as on a couple of high councils and in a variety of other capacities. My research specialty is parenting and children's social/emotional development in cultural context. In addition to studies conducted countries around the world, I recently launched a research program in Japan, which has provided the opportunity to return to the Sendai mission yearly since 2007. It has been wonderful seeing the growth of the Church, new buildings, and old friends from my jidai. I look forward to seeing you at future reunions -- missed the last one unfortunately due to professional meetings. |
