Some Missionaries Now Allowed to Return to Mission 30 Apr 2011
In case you hadn't heard, on 27 April the Church announced in a press release that some of the missionaries transferred out of the mission will return to areas now considered safe.

We've learned from President Tateoka that the "safe" districts are Aomori and Niigata, and that the transfer of twenty-some missionaries back from Hokkaido will take place tomorrow, Monday, 02 May. Missionaries transferring to the Niigata district will travel by plane from Sapporo, and those transferring back to the Aomori district will transfer by train (through the Seikan tunnel) to the Aomori district.

Also this past week, on 29 April, the final section of Tohoku Shinkansen (bullet train) line was reopened, just in time for "golden week" to begin, bringing both a emotional and economic boost to Tohoku. Slogans of "Ganbaro- Tohoku" and "Tsunageyo- Nippon" can be heard and seen everywhere.

Updates, as they happen, are posted to our
