Temple Meeting On Reunion Day MorningFriday, 2001 August 24
This is what we sent to the Missionary Senior Couples
yesterday. Hope you can add the Temple visit to your Web site. Thanks,
Pres. & Sister Smith
Another year has passed, and we are looking at another great Mission
Reunion. Our Maryland Baltimore Mission Reunion will be held, Oct. 5, 2001,
on the Friday before October General Conference. This year we have added
another feature at the suggestion of some of the single missionaries: a
temple visit Friday morning. We have made arrangements with the Jordan
River Temple to host our mission. We will have a meeting in the chapel
beginning at 9:30 AM. It will last about twenty minutes and we will then
attend the 10:00 AM Session. A member of the temple presidency and matron
will speak briefly. It is recommended that we be in our seats, dressed for
the session, by 9:15 AM. After the session, we can visit on the grounds for
awhile before the Missionary Senior Couples go to the 3:00 PM luncheon at
the Cowboy Grub, 2350 1/2 Foothill Drive, Salt Lake City. The Reunion will
again be held at the East Millcreek 16th Ward Chapel, 3408 Celeste Way,
beginning at 6:30 PM. We will go to the church about 6pm and set up tables,
chairs, etc. ready to serve snack foods and punch. We have asked the
missionaries to bring snack food with them. The Smiths will bring some food
and the punch fixings. Any supplement you care to bring will be appreciated.
We are planning an hour meeting about 8:00 PM and then adjourn for more
visiting and snacking. That will avoid the late meeting of last year. We
hope you are able to join us for all or part of the day. To assist us in
planning and reservations at the restaurant, we would appreciate a reply as
to your attendance.
New Stake President Is Missionary At HeartFriday, 2001 April 6
See
http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/local/howard/bal-ho.johnson30mar30.story for full story.
Newly-called Stake President Clarence Johnson of the Columbia, Maryland
Stake gained his passion for service years ago when he served his mission.
"By trying to live by the Gospel, I have found a greater degree of
happiness and joy than I would have found had I not had it," he said. A
father of six children, he says his family helps bring him this great joy.
He says one of his wishes is to teach everyone that they are children of
God and the importance of this.
Memory of Elder Aaron StandageTuesday, 2001 February 27
I have just been informed of Elder Aaron Standage's passing
from this life. He died while exploring caves in Arizona.
This is a shock, I am sure to many of us. But tragic as it
is, those who knew him will not doubt that we will see him
again in the life to come.
His funeral will be held:
Wednesday, 28 February 2001
LDS Quinn building
2700 E. Guadalupe Rd.
Gilbert, Arizona
There is a fund set up in his name where donations can be
made. Go to any bank of America and make the donation to the
Aaron J. Standage Fund account #004675380737.
