Hermana Haertel and I are serving as misioneros matrimonios in the Mexico Guadalajara mission and we love it. I served here 36 years ago and it is awesome to come back with your eternal companion. I am not retired yet so we are only here for 6 months.
There is an incredible need for couple missionaries in this mission and President Wagner is pleading for more. He is a great mission president and you would love working with him. There are only 3 couples here now and one couple leaves in a few weeks. We leave in November and the last couple leaves before year end. We need 3 couples to start the process now in order to just replace those leaving and it would be wonderful to have 10 more couples than that.
The work that experienced couples can do here is unbelievable. There is so much training and activation work we can do. Most of the branches we work with have 600 members and 60 attend. President Monson’s rescue mission is sorely needed here and the senior couples can do it best.
I understand that many of you are not likely retired yet but if you can take a 6 month or 1 year sabbatical like we did that would be awesome. Please forward this to anyone you know who would be interested in serving here and have them email me concerning it. robhaertel@gmail.com

Hola!
I am writing this message for my own benefit and also for the benefit of others who will visit this site. I am now about 1 month off from entering the MTC and I'm not completely sure what I *should* and what I *should not* bring to the mission. For the *recent* RM's of this mission, could you either email me or respond with a list of items that you either: 1) brought that helped you, or 2) wish you had brought that would have helped you? I want to skip the phase where I go 'man.. had I known I would be doing X, I would have brought Y to help me'. I am a *recent convert so I don't have a lot of readily accessible information about missions and what to expect.
Also, if you could suggest me anything to do to prepare before I leave - what would it be?

Hey! If any of my old comps are out there, this is just a quick note to tell you I am getting married on August 5th in the Bountiful Temple. I am in the middle of compiling a mission DVD for Presidente Ruben Dario Torres. If you were a missionary while Presidente Torres was serving, please e-mail me your photos or you can send them to my home address and I will scan them for you.
