Stories: Ely's Winter
Displaying 1 - 1 of 1 -- Add Story
It was a cold, snowy winter in Elizabeth. the wind from the Port in our faces and the snow under our feet as we walked down 1st ave. I also remember Elder Garcia ironing my shirt; what a great guy. And Elder O'Brient and his Mate. I also remember all those doors that would not open, all those miles we walked and walked. I remember the smell of the streets and the sound of the railroadtracks. I remember that washer we found on the street and we brought home. I remember morning exersice to christmas music, and all those times we argued about doctrine. Oh, and how to forget the food, and the members, and the investigators. All those discussions taught. All those time we laughed and all those times we smiled. There were times when it seemed that not all was well, times when our pride got in our way, and i remember those times well, as i should. But more than anything, there were all those mornings that i woke up and i saw the elders in the apartment reading the scriptures, and all those monday mornings in the trainings...the simles, the truthful eyes and warm hearts, and the spirit; wow, what a feeling. It is said that physical feelings cannot be remembered, that we can only remember our reactions to those feelings. We cannot remember the cold, but we can remember how we reacted to the cold. I do not remember what the cold felt like, i remember that i shivered because of it, and as I remember it i do not feel cold. But there is something i remember that is the same then as it is right now, I remember the warmth of the Elders and Sisters, of the members and investigators. I remember the Spirit flowing and spreading like the sun light. To all those people I want to say thanks, for the warmest cold, snowy winter I could've had in Elizabeth |

LDS QUOTE: |
"It is not just that the Book of Mormon teaches us truth, though it indeed does that. It is not just that the Book of Mormon bears testimony of Christ, though it indeed does that, too. But there is something more. There is a power in the book which will begin to flow into your lives the moment you begin a serious study of the book. You will find greater power to resist temptation. You will find the power to avoid deception. You will find the power to stay on the strait and narrow path." |
