Comments:
Beth Wakefield Walker is my wife of over 40 years. We cherish our six children and nineteen grandchildren. Beth is the love of my life and my most beloved friend on earth. The gospel of Christ has always been the center of our lives and will forever continue so to be. From 1960 to 1963, my great blessing was to serve in Japan as a missionary. President Andrus was the mission president with President Andersen coming in toward the end of my time there. Both of them blessed my life and taught me great lessons that have continued with me over the years. As I mentally picture the scenes of moving life during these past years, I have feelings of gratitude to the Lord. The Lord placed great people with me along the road, and my life has been blessed by them. May the Lord bless always the Japanese people and those Elders and Sisters (and now couples) who have labored and do now labor among, both in the then and in the now.
Beth and I are serving an 18 month mission in the Oregon Eugene Mission (2006) and are assigned to Lincoln City on the coast. Our mission is 18 months and we have about 15 months remaining. The work we do is more reactivation and to teach if the opportunity comes along.

"Obedience is the price, faith is the power, love is the motive, the Spirit is the key, and Christ is the reason." The motto of the Japan Fukuoka Mission can be applied not only to missionary work, but to everyday life. -BYU President Bateman
