Comments: Married while working as a catalog librarian at the Church College of Hawaii in 1966. I returned to school at the U.of Hawaii under an East-West Center grant & obtained a master's in Linguistics - 1969. I stayed home 17 years to raise a family of two sons and three daughters. I returned to the U of Hawaii for my Ph. D. in Linguistics in 1993, at the age of 53. I worked first at the U of Hawaii teaching English to foreign students. Then I switched to BYU-H and have been here 8 years, thoroughly loving it. I teach mostly English composition and literature, but I have taught History of English, Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, and Phonology as well. In church, I've served in many positions, of course, but I am now Stake Public Affairs Director. My husband Bob is retired, but contracts to teach choral singing and gives voice & piano lessons. Our children are all on their own, so if anyone would like to visit Honolulu, we have lots of room for overnight guests in our well worn 42-year-old house.
