Stories: Driving a little too close

Some missionaries are the most amazing peace-makers. I would count Elder Sua as one of those. He helped my companionship when it seemed to be a dead-staring-not-getting-along relashionship. Once, when we were on an exchange, he was able to notice the one, and possibly only prominent thing I did well -- to work with a pure heart. This might seem like an often told story about a missionary, but there is more. He had charisma, optimism, and skill. He appreciated all varieties of music. One time, he was driving our district though the apartment parking lot, on the way out, and he was going a little too fast directly toward two parked cars with an empty space between them. He directed the car exactly between the cars with approximately one to three inches clearance on either side (we were watching because we didn't want our hands that hung out the window to be smashed). I have often wondered if he knew he would clear those cars. Someday we will probably find out he had enough confidence in God that he didn't need to know exactly where his human strength or ability was. Lesson to learn: He did not repeat that event, like an overconfident fool. Don't you either. |
