| I remember at the 1997 Christmas conference the whole mission gathered for a two day celebration in Tacloban. During the Monday festivities we all looked forward to an enthusiastic game of tug-o-war; those who'd return in 1998 vs. 1999. Elder Williams took the first position on the 1998 side and I (Elder Dubyk) took the first position on the 1999 side. We were all very excited as we pulled the massive rope. (probably about 1 1/2 inches in diameter) As the force of 75 people on each side pulled, the rope broke in the middle and the laws of physics held true (every action has an equal and opposite reaction) The force that was pulling against the rope caused it to come flying back at Elder Williams and me. Elder Williams suffered injuries to his hands and chest while I was knocked unconscious. People 15 past me in the line could feel their hands stinging as if they'd swung a bat at a brick wall. I ended up in the hospital getting my ribs x-rayed!
