Gary Schiess Passed Away 14 Feb 2007

Gary Kennard Schiess
(December 27, 1965 - February 9, 2007)

Gary Kennard Schiess, 41, died Friday, Feb. 9th, 2007 of an apparent heart attack at his home in Rigby, Idaho. Gary was born Dec. 27, 1965 in Logan, Utah to Donald Jay and Faye Pitcher Schiess. He attended schools in Rexburg, Idaho graduating from Madison High School in 1984. He went to Ricks College and to Southern Utah State in Cedar City, Utah to further his education and to play football. He graduated from SUSC in 1991 with a degree in Business Management and Marketing. He was a standout athlete, as a defensive back, and place kicker in three schools. His Madison High School team won State titles in 1983 & 1984.

Gary served in the South Africa, Johannesburg LDS Mission from 1985-1987. On Jan. 12th 1989 he married Teresa Leishman in the Idaho Falls Temple. His profession was financial planning and investment consulting. He became the youngest CEO in WMA (World Marketing Alliance) history and operated his own consultant business in Idaho Falls for the past 12 ½ years. He was an avid sportsman who owned and trained chocolate labs. He spent many hours hunting the mountains of Idaho, the fields of South Dakota and fishing the forks of the Snake River.

He loved to coach and motivate young men to succeed. He coached little league teams in the Idaho Falls area and this past year coached as a successful defensive coordinator at Rigby High School.

The love of his life was his family. Gary’s infectious drive to succeed and excel was admired and many lives were better for it. He will be remembered for his love of life, his love for his family & many friends and his great sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa; son, Nathan, 15; daughters Jessica, 14, MaKenzi, 12, Ellie, 7, & Sadie, 5 all of Rigby. His Parents Don & Faye Schiess of Rigby; siblings; Mike (Karen) Schiess of Pocatello, ID; David (Anne) Schiess of Firth, Idaho; Rod Schiess of Shelley, Idaho; Kathryn (Jerry) North of St. George, UT; and Kevin (Lindsay) Schiess of Salt Lake City, UT. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John G. & Varua K. Schiess, Ronald N. & Mary F. Pitcher and a nephew J.D. Schiess.
