Seven years ago, my wife and I met at the University of Alberta where we were in the same ward. We now have three children. Our oldest, Alyssa, is currently 5 and in Kindergarden which she loves. Shortly after his birth, our first son, Austin (now 4) was diagnosed with Achondroplasia (he is a dwarf). Then, in June 2001, we were blessed with a beauitful boy, Mark. He was growing and progressing wonderfully until the first snow storm of 2001. Returning from signing mortgage papers for the purchase of our first home, our car hit some black ice and slid into an oncomig semi-truck. All of the members of the family were hurt, but have since recovered, except Mark who suffered a very serious brain injury. His progress has been very slow and doctors do not hold out much hope for his development. But we still do. After 3 months in the hospital we came home to a new life.We have certainly had many challenges, but the Lord has helped us cope. |
