I graduated from BYU with a B.S. in Microbiology in 2000, then got my Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in August of 2005. I then did postdoctoral training in Columbus, Ohio, and have since returned to work in Birmingham, Alabama. I married Leigh Ann in 2004. Our first child, Jacob, was born in 2005. Our second son, Owen, was born in 2008.
