| Comments: Ron Welker, Tahiti, Papeete Mission from April 1977 through May of 1979. I served in Raiatea, Huahine, and after three short months was shipped to help re-open the Cook Island Mission (then part of the Tahiti Mission). Served in the Cooks on Rarotonga, Aitutaki, and Mauke. Served under both President Baudin and President Mack. Both hold very fond places in my heart. Returned to attend BYU and teach at the MTC for three years, met my first wife, Carol, at the Y (deceased last year from rare lung cancer), then returned to my home state of Oregon to attend Oregon State University. Have resided in Oregon (Portland area) since then. I re-married in March of this year to a wonderful angel sent from God to take care of me and my three beautiful daughters; her name is Melanie. She was bapized in to the church only 6 short weeks after our wedding. We are planning our "official" honeymoon to Tahiti and the Cooks for early next year.
