Comments:
After BYU in 1968, I worked 2 years as a technical editor, 2 as a reporter for the Deseret News and then stepped into various trade publishing ventures. I am currently a partner in Columbia Publishing in Yakima, Washington, where we publish five or six agricultural trade magazines. Some are regional in scope others are national. Ann and I remain active in the Church and are currently serving in the Columbia River Temple. Over the years, we have have been able to serve in a variety of positions, one of which was presiding over the Korea Seoul West Mission (1979-80) and the Korea Seoul Mission (1980-82). Two of our four sons returned to serve in Korea, Dallas in the Korean Teajon Mission and Vaughn in Korea Seoul. Both speak much better Korean than their Dad. A third son served in Japan. We are looking forward to retiring in the next 2-3 years, putting in our papers and serving wherever there may be a need. We may not be worth much, but we can still put in a good day and offer a smile of encouragement

"Obedience is the price, faith is the power, love is the motive, the Spirit is the key, and Christ is the reason." The motto of the Japan Fukuoka Mission can be applied not only to missionary work, but to everyday life. -BYU President Bateman
