Funeral services for Joshua Amos Reed, 24, of Copperas Cove, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' Chapel in Copperas Cove. Interment will follow in the Bee house Cemetery.

He died April 29, 2007, while visiting in St. Louis, Mo.

Joshua was born Aug. 21, 1982, in Wood bridge, Va., to Karen Rose Meders Reed and John "Jack" Cooper Reed. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a two-year mission in Oslo, Norway. In 2001 he graduated from Central Texas College in general studies. He attended Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah, and graduated in April 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and minors in physics and math. He was employed by Micron Inc. in Boise, Idaho, as a process engineer, where he was lovingly known as "Shwa." He earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Joshua had a great love of nature and the outdoors. He was a musician. He played the piano, accordion, ukulele and bass fiddle. He also composed music. He was a published poet. Joshua had a great love of languages and spoke both Norwegian and Spanish. He was an avid reader and found great joy in reading and studying the scriptures. He loved people and made lasting friends whereever he went. He was filled with compassion and loved to help people problem solve. His family and friends will miss his love and support.

Survivors include his parents, Jack and Karen Reed; three siblings, Jonathan (Lea Ann) Reed of Blue Springs, Mo., Jennifer (David) Rushton of Evant, Jacob Reed of Anaheim, Calif.; three nephews, Clark and Calvin Rushton, and Casey Reed; and fiance, Lauren Taylor of St. Louis, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove.

Memorials may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Missionary Fund, c/o Bishop Matthew Doyle, 809 S. 23rd St. Copperas Cove, TX 765422.

COPPERAS COVE — Services for Joshua Amos Reed, 24, of Boise, Idaho, and Copperas Cove will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Copperas Cove Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Burial will be in Bee House Cemetery near Izora.

He died Sunday, April 29, in St. Louis, Mo.

Visitations will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove and 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday just prior to the service at the church.
