Stories: Washing our whites

Elder Kriner (and later Elder Evans) and I lived in a hybel on Jomfrubraatveien up on Bekkelagshogde. We used the local bathhouse attached to the school, twice a week. Soon we learned that if we filled our bag with shirts and Gs that needed washing, we could get them done at the bath house. We would climb in the roomy showers and carefully put on our one piece garments one at a time, then soap ourselves up. Then we would do our nylon white shirts the same way, carefully rinsing them out on our bodies after each one. Finally we would give ourselves a good wash and wring all the clothes as free of water as we could. We would then take them back to the apartment to drip dry. .. Nylon garments and nylon shirts made for easy drying. I occasionally wonder what they may have thought of us because Im sure it wasnt a big secret. I bought a pair of one piece nylon garments recently. NOT COMFORTABLE AT ALL!!! .. but they sure were easy to wash |
