Dedication Information

The following information is current as of Tuesday, December 18, 1998.

Open House and Dedication Committee Chair. Pres. Brent M. Wadsworth, President of the Anchorage Alaska Stake is the chair of the Open House and Dedication Committee. He can be reached at (907) 272-5045.

Dedication Schedule. The dedication is scheduled for Saturday January 9th and Sunday January 10th. There will be the ceremony laying the cornerstone at 8:00 AM on Saturday. The first dedicatory session will start afterward at 9:00 AM. The seven sessions are scheduled as follows.

Saturday, January 9th Session 2 - Wasilla Stake 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM
Saturday, January 9th Session 3 - Wasilla Stake 2:30 PM until 4:00 PM
Sunday, January 10th Session 4 - Anchorage North Stake 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM
Sunday, January 11th Session 5 - Fairbanks Stake 10:30 AM until 12:00 PM
Sunday, January 11th Session 6 - Juneau Stake 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM
Sunday, January 11th Session 7 - Soldotna Stake 4:00 PM until 5:30 PM

Attendance. Attendance is only for members of the church age 8 years old and above. All members attending must have in their possession a special recommend to attend. These recommends can only be obtained from the individuals Bishopric. Current temple recommends are not valid to attend the temple dedication. Everyone must have the special recommend to attend the dedication. The recommends will be issued for a seat either inside the temple or in the Brayton Chapel. Recommends for seating in the temple are very limited and will be given out by local Bishops. Non-Alaskan resident who wishes to attend the dedication should contact Pres. Brent M. Wadsworth at (907) 272-5045. He has a limited number of invitations to the last three sessions for those from out-of-state.

Getting to the Temple. Drive south from downtown Anchorage on the New Seward Highway. Take the DeArmoun Road exit. Turn left (east) and cross over the New Seward Highway on the overpass. Take the first left (north) as if you were getting back on the New Seward Highway. However, instead of getting on the freeway stay to the left and get on the northbound, one-way, frontage road Brayton Drive. The Brayton Chapel and the Anchorage Alaska Temple are located on the right after about one half mile.

Parking. People should car pool. There will be very limited parking. Enter the church parking lot at the second entrance (north of the chapel). Traffic coordinators will be there to assist you. Please follow their instructions for efficient parking and exiting. There will be no shuttle service. Please do not plan on bringing motor homes or similar size vehicles to the parking lot. There is no parking on Brayton Drive.

Attending the Dedication

Electronic Equipment. All electronic equipment must be left behind. There will be no place to check these items at the dedication. This means no cameras, recorders, beepers, cell phones, etc.

Backpacks and Packages. No backpacks or packages will be allowed.

Child Care. There will be no child care facilities at the dedication.
