| Comments: I served my first mission under Presidents Kendall W. Young and Thomas R. Stone - 4 July 1963 to 30 January 1966. I married Vanessa Jane Schofield, of Rochdale, Lancashire, England who had also served her mission in Tahiti as a sister health missionary - October 1975 to April 1977. We returned to Tahiti to preside over the mission (July 1984 - July 1987) with our three oldest children: Katy Victoria, Stephen Lawrence, and John Leonard (who later was called to served his mission in Tahiti from September 2001 to September 2003). Two more children were born into our family while we were serving: Erica Ashley, born 4 November 1984, and Andrew Lawton, born 7 June 1986. We are returning to Tahiti (18 - 29 May 2005) to hold a reunion with our Tahitian missionaries after eighteen years, and to be there when our son John arrives to perform as part of the BYU ballroom dance company show (22 - 27 May 2005). We love our dear friends of Tahiti and hold many fond memories of wonderful moments spent among them. | |
