Ralph Raymond Barnes served as the pres. of the first mission in Spain from 1970-73. Bro. Barnes also presided over the MTC in Santiago, Chile, from 94-96. At 75 he was a member of the Moraga Ward, Oakland Calif. Stake, when he accepted the call to serve as pres. of the Caracas Venezuela Temple. His wife, Chloris Barnes, served as temple matron. He had previously served as a stake patriarch, an MTC pres, a mission pres, a regional rep, a stake pres & a bishop. He is a retired employee benefits consultant. He was born in SLC, Utah, to Ralph & Hettie Barnes. Sister Barnes accompanied him on their missions & served as Relief Society pres., & ward & stake Young Women leader & teacher. She was born in Kanab, Utah, to Othello & Grace Bowman. Pres. Barnes died on Aug 15, 2007 at the age of 80.
